Here is my top 10 for the year...some of these are collections of older 
material but all are crucial..

Fire Bun the Heathen!!
(No particular order)

1. Cornell Campbell - Natty Dread Anthology - Trojan ( over 50 tracks on 2 
Cds..mid 70s songs from the sweet voice of Mr Campbell)

2. Delroy Williams - I Stand Black - Makasound (classic tracks from the 
70s..Augustus Pablo stable of artists)

3. The Heptones - Unreleased Night Food and Rare Black Ark Sessions - 
Auralux (The best harmony trio in all of reggae music?,,yes..including the 
Wailers)

4. Michael Rose - African Roots - M Records/Twilight Circus (ex-Black Uhuru 
frontman with updated roots lp..this label is the real deal)

5. Niney the Observer - Sufferation: The Deep Roots of Niney the Observer - 
Auralux (classic tracks produced by Winston "Niney" Holness -he only has 9 
fingers!)

6. Various Artists - Safe Travel: With Phil Pratt & Friends 1966-1968 - 
Pressure Sounds (classic and rare rock steady produced by Phil Pratt- tracks 
on the Caltone label)

7. Various Artists - A Place Called Jamaica Part 2: Bunny Lee Productions 
from the 60s and 70s - Makasound (Bunny Lee productions at Channel One..has 
to be good!)

8. Various Artists - Studio One Roots Vol. 2 - Soul Jazz (Studio One 
recordings..a must buy for the Fuentes household - The Sun, Motown and Stax 
label of Jamaican reggae, rock steady and ska)

9. Various Artists - Studio One Woman - Soul Jazz (The women get their turn 
at the Mic..on Studio One..nuff said)

10. Various Artists - Culture Dem Part 2: An Essential Collection of 
Conscious Music - Lustre Kings (strong cultural roots songs about 
Rastafari..on modern Lustre Kings riddims...a label to keep your eye on)

Honorable Mention

The girl group collection on rhino..and all those Johnny Thunders/Dolls 
stuff I bought the last year
