A friend of mine gets BBC America and has seen it and raved about it. I have seen clips from the BBC and the BBC America website and based just on those clips, it looks like something I would be into, i.e., absurdist British humor. The first season has been released on DVD and even though I am strongly leaning toward picking it up (since I can't currently get BBC America), I am wondering what others who have seen it think of it.

It's become absolutely huge over here, for no apparent reason. The
first series was mildly amusing, but was basically combining the
format of The Fast Show with the look of The League Of Gentlemen and
the voiceovers from Lionel Nimrod's Inexplicable World, while not
being as funny as any of those. The second series (which just repeated
the catchphrases of the first) was fairly poor, and the third series
is, by all accounts (I haven't seen it), rapidly descending into a
mire of racism and scatology.
The original radio series was quite good though, and the UK DVD set of
series 1 is worth it for the excerpts from Rock Profiles, a show Lucas
and Walliams used to do where they'd dress up as various rock stars
and be interviewed (typical example, Damon from Blur - 'this song
isn't about anyone in particular, it's just kind of a general thing...
(sings) "Justine/Justine Frischmann/From Elastica/Who I used to go out
with..."'
If Rock Profiles is on the US DVD, it's probably worth picking up,
otherwise don't bother...
