This seems endemic of many large corporations. GM has never quite
recovered from its plan to try to sell the cars they were making rather
than building the cars consumers actually wanted.
I found it laughable this morning listening to KFOG-FM in San Francisco.
One of their featured guests this morning is a management guy from
TOWER---and they were talking about the great service everyone gets in
their local TOWER stores. It was a total shill because KFOG's new CD is
being sold exclusively in, you guessed it, TOWER.
Back in its day, TOWER Records was Mecca for me. Deep selection,
relatively knowledgable staff, good prices. I visit the local store
maybe twice a year now because I rarely find what I want, even more
rarely get the service I need, and the prices are pretty high. Not a
good recipe for repeat visits.
