Easy pick for me is Goldfrapp's third long player, SUPERNATURE. Maybe too dancey/electronic for many Auditeers, but it's also suffused with a total glam rock vibe, as unstoppable leadoff single "Ooh La La" will testify. Plus Alison Goldfrapp has the best pipes in the biz right now. Alison + Will Gregory = Dave 'n' Annie for the 21st century.
I don't think it's out in the US until 2006, though I may be wrong... but I had to have it when it came out, so the moment the UK special edition landed in my hot little hands, I stopped paying attention to whether or not it's actually been or going to be released here. :-)
Anyway, Goldfrapp is still streaming sound clips and the whole vids for "Ooh La La" and "Number One" at http://www.goldfrapp.co.uk so it's cost-free to sample 'n' see if it works for you...

Hi folks,
I know that soon, in January, everybody will be doing Top 10, 20, and 50 lists; but I was wondering right now what each of you would consider to be the top album that you've heard in 2005.
I'm on college break right now, and I'm going to be having a little more time to listen to music, so I was wanting to get some opinions on what might be some good CDs to pick up.
Right now, if you ask me, the New Pornographers' "Twin Cinema" would be the top album of 2005, IMHO.
Interested in seeing what the rest of you have to say.
