I guess I should have changed the subject line - I wasn't making any sort of claim about Colin or the Decemberists at that point, just agreeing with Mr. Bennett's general point that indiepop vocals are often in the way for me these days.

I really can't make any extensive claims about the Decemberists.  I've heard a few tracks on compilations people have sent me and listened to their "All Songs Considered" broadcast, and I didn't care for them.  This despite really wanting to like them because of Colin's personality, R. Hitchcock fandom, interest in history, etc.  So I was sort of taken aback at how much I didn't care for what I've heard.  But I've never give an album a full try or anything.
