I almost got into a fight with the two smirking jerks in the Lucy Show (Mark
Bendola and Rob Vandeven, I think) when they played in Santa Clara in 1986.
Their label wanted them to do a radio interview, so I had to drive out and pick
them up from the club, then drive them back to the station. Thus, they
complained loudly about how they were subjected to such an awful non-limosine for 20
minutes. Then, when we got to the station they complained about how shabby
the station was. When the reel-to-reel malfunctioned they started mocking me,
saying I didn't know how to use my own station's equipment. I believe they asked
the questions, "what kind of a dump is this?" and "why the fuck can't we do
the fucking interview live?" Which indicated just why we couldn't do the
interview live.
I believe I did conduct the interview. With the tape deck off. They didn't
notice.
