NOT the same as the old Ritz.
Apologies bothering a global mailing list w/a local gripe ...but ... I
HATED when they moved the Ritz to that uptown space. I was curious,
yeah. Studio 54 and all. But. What a mess. The sloped floor, the
nosebleed -and not by proxy or such from all the cocaine consumption
o'yore- straight up and verticle balconies ...hated it. It's nice that
the old Ritz space, now again Webster Hall, it's original name ... nice
that again on occasion there's something/somebody worthy to drag one's
ass back to that place. A place I began to loathe, until it was gone.
Jeez, we were there, seemingly, every couple nights for a while back in
eighties.
Remember the old Lone Star Roadhouse two blocks south on 52nd, right
off 8th? Had a bus lashed to the facade. Loved that joint.
Now tho ...I even sorta' miss the new Ritz.
