Subject Loud Bands

This isn't a loud band story per se, but once I was in a bar across 
the street from the Ritz in NYC, in the 90s when the Ritz was on 54th 
Street between Broadway and Eighth (the old Studio 54 space.)  It was 
a Saturday night.  Metallica was playing, and all night people were 
streaming into the bar because they couldn't endure the scene (which 
inclulded but was not limited to excessively loud music.)  In 
particular, I remember hearing that the mosh pit began as soon as they 
tore your ticket (when you were in the outer lobby, several twists and 
turns from the concert floor.)
