The two loudest shows I can remember were seeing The Godfathers in Philadelphia at Revival, a now defunct club that was in an old sailor's church made entirely, it seemed, of marble (ie, nice reflective surfaces!), and seeing Glenn Branca and his guitar army of about a dozen strong at Drexel University, also in Philly.
