> one of the loudest shows I can ever remember was seeing R.E.M. on the "Reckoning" tour, early summer 1984... openers were the Dream Symdicate, whom I'd seen before in LA, but this was their "Medicine Show" tour...
Funny you mention this gig - it crossed my mind as well, I saw them at a roller skating rink in East Setauket, Long Island. Very memorable show, and Karl Precoda was amazing.
> I also saw that Neil Young/Social Distortion/Sonic Youth tour when it played the Civic Center in Philadelphia.
Am I crazy in thinking that I saw this tour (Nassau Coliseum, NY), but with Jane's Addiction in the line-up instead of Sonic Youth?
I'm not sure if it was the loudest show I ever attended, but the hottest was probably the Dead Kennedys in '87 or so. I saw 'em at the East Catasauqua Playground Building (near Allentown, PA), which was a tiny concrete pillbox of a place. My ears were definitely ringing after that show, and I had to wring my shirt out a few times.
Any thoughts on the new Pale Stars album, featuring Brandt Huseman from Splitsville? I've seen 'em live, but haven't heard any recordings.
Be seeing you,
Bill
