I'm one of the few people who is in the middle about
The Darkness. When they are poppy and glammy (in
Queen/Sparks mode) I'm down with them. I think there
are a few really strong songs on the album. The
rockier side of the band is alright, but it comes off
more like a fey Zodiac Mindwarp.

The new single is disappointing -- mediocre
songwriting.

Insofar as a band having fun, which someone else
posted about -- I wonder if the people who dis Franz
Ferdinand, The White Stripes, et al., have actually
taken the time to listen to them or see them. Franz
Ferdinand is really fun -- they have a good time on
stage and get the audience moving. The White Stripes
aren't a party band per se, but they, from what I've
heard from trustworthy sources, bring the rock.

Anyway, whether The Darkness are good or bad has
nothing to do with how Franz Ferdinand or the Killers
are.
