This may have already been mentioned on the list, but originally slated
for the line up was Doug Powell (of Doug Powell fame) and Steve Ebe and
Steve Arnold (of Human Radio fame).
Doug had done "Candy-O" on the cars tribute. Ric dug it. Approached
Doug (or a connection was otherwise made) about a tour and writing on the
new record.
I think Doug recruited the Steves.....who I'm sure he knew via the
Nashville power pop scene......also because Doug's sister-in-law, the
Steves (+ Human Radio's Kye Kennedy) and yours truly are in the same
Nashville-based disco revue....DELICIOUS
(www.deliciouslovesyou.com)......blah blah blah......
However, after the success of the likes of the Queen/Paul Rodgers
combination......I think they resorted to securing 'name' artists for the
gig and 'voila'
Not sure if it is coincidence the relationship between Rundgren and
Powell.
