Greg writes,
"My six-year-old Cubs fan nephew is farther removed chronologically from the last Cubs world championship back in 1908 than are John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the second and third presidents of the United States (who each died in 1826). That's depressing."
This from http://www.americanpresident.org
Both Adams and Jefferson died on July 4, 1826, the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It was an anniversary that both founders were determined to live long enough to see. Death took Jefferson at 12:50 in the afternoon. Near noon, close to the time of Jefferson's death, Adams awakened from a deep sleep and with great effort proclaimed, "Thomas Jefferson survives." These were his last words, after which he fell into a coma.
I know auditeers didn't sign on to this list for this sort of off-topic thing, so I'll add the following on-topic: Thomas Jefferson declared that music "is the favorite passion of my soul, and fortune has cast my lot in a country where it is in a state of deplorable barbarism." Sounds like posts I read here daily! LOL
Take care,
Sherman
