Ok...I know there's plenty of published writers here on the A list.
I have been searching for a coffee table book that doesn't exist and therefore I desire
greatly to create it:

"The Art of the 45 rpm Label"

I've heard of books that have a good number of photos, but they're usualy in b&w
and look like photocopies. I've seen a few color pages full of labels, but they're usualy too small
to appreciate, in my opinion, and buried in minute text.
And I know there are alot of books on the value of the 45rpm, even a book of picture sleeves,
but nothing devoted entirely to 45rpm label art. I'm thinking 4 to 6 hi-res scans
of the 45's per page with the dates of the labels activity. That's it.

I have over 140 labels I've collected on-line and think I have more than enough to make
a visually stunning book that will fill a niche in the market. God knows all the books in the Barnes and Borders
music section are niche market books. I think it would cross over into the graphic arts section, as well.
And all the yuppies/yippes would want one on their coffee tables. I know I would.

Jump in here A-folk, I need wisdom.
Am I out of my mind? I'm sure...
I know it'll cost money. That's not the issue.
The issue is copywrites. Who owns what and who/how do I contact in order to use a scan of
a classic, and/or, defunct label? I'll have to do my research, regardless,
but is this just going to be a logistical nightmare?
I am truely willing to do what needs to be done,
but some information from ya'll might help me better understand what I'd be stepping into.

Anyways...just throwing it out here...if you're interested in helping me out please contact me off-list
or onlist if it'll get some discussion of peoples collections of 45's and the art there-of.
What's your favorite label?
I have four that strangely bring tears to my eyes for the nostalgia they invoke:

Sussex's concentric blue, red, orange, and green ovals.
Capitol's yellow and orange swirl
Soul records 3 purple ovals
Colgems.

bla bla bla...anyway...thanks in advance for any help.
later, joe
