Hi Dave--Good post--You brought back a lot of 70s memories.
Crabby Appleton had an AM radio smash with "Go Back." Their debut album was
eventually reissued on CD. Good rockers interspersed with Beatlesque
ballads. Their follow-up album, as so often the case, wasn't as good. They
always reminded me of the Wackers, as both bands recorded for Elektra and
earned kudos from the rock critics of the day.
Yep, that is Rod the Mod--AKA as the singer on the Python Lee Jackson single
"In a Broken Dream." He reportedly did the harmonica solo on Millie
Small's 1964 international ska hit "My Boy Lollypop." (In recent years,
there have been published reports to the contrary. What's the truth?)
Yes, I would go for the Mott the Hoople live CD. Ian Hunter lives for the
stage!
