As a relatively poor college student/DJ in the mid-80's, I had access to the station's library and often borrowed LPs for purposes of research (ie. taping them). One of the first things I ever went for was The Soft Boys and Robyn Hitchocock albums. I still have some of those cassettes buried somewhere in my basement ("Uncorrected Personality Traits" was an early favorite). Anyway... once I had a few spare $$ I went in search of The Soft Boys "Can of Bees" LP, which to this day is a fave. I also fell hard for RH's "Element of Light", again another fave LP.
I haven't seen RH live in many many years, but back in the late 80's he'd come through Philadelphia every so often and I recall the shows at the Chestnut Cabaret where Robyn would tell these incredibly long and (to me) incoherent stories about fish and man, and I swear it's the closest I ever came to being on acid.
And I really like "So You Think You're In Love".
