It is more country. I tend to hear his solo stuff as sounding more 
like itself than anything else, but this is definitely the most 
country record he's done since Whiskeytown. Cold Roses sort of took a 
step toward folk rock, most obviously the American Beauty and 
Workingman's Dead era Grateful Dead studio work.  The new one goes 
further in that direction, past folk-rock and into country-rock.  
There is indeed a pedal steel player in the band.

This is probably the solo Adams record that Whiskeytown fans were 
waiting for, unless the next one turns out to be even more so.
