I started listening to radio in the '50s. But, my first favorite song and
the one I still consider my favorite song of all time was/is Don't Worry
Baby by the Beach Boys from 1964. When the Beatles came along, they became
my favorite group and still are, but Don't Worry Baby will always be my
favorite song. I think I wore it out playing it on my record player.

What were your favorite radio stations growing up? KHJ was mine...here in
the Los Angeles area. My husband (Arthur Bang's dad) won $2,000 on KHJ
during a contest they had going in 1971. That was a lot of money in those
days. They played two songs simultaneously and you had to guess the songs
and be the correct caller. In those days, we used rotary phones....so, you
would have to dial it and hold the last number....lots of memories. He was
the correct caller with the correct answer and called in from work (with the
aid of the switchboard operator)....the two songs were O-o-h Child by The
Five Stairsteps and In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry. He bought a new
Plymouth Roadrunner with his winnings (lime green with a black landau top).
And somewhere around here, we have a picture that he had taken with all the
Boss Jocks from KHJ.....he won on The Real Don Steele's show. For me, there
will never be another station like KHJ....wonderful DJ's with a wonderfully
eclectic format.
