Hey Michael!

I'm just lazy. I always figure no one is paying attention so I just sort of
make things up as I go along. ;-P

Seriously, as I think you know, it IS a compliment when I drop your name
about an artist sounding like you. You've been creating music and producing
so many for so long now(many of which Not Lame carries) that you have, and
not to sound smarmy or over-complimentary since we work together, evolved
into a state of music creation where you have *earned* the right to have
chiseled out a 'sound' that is uniquely yours.

And which, occasionally, is influencing other indie artists quite
possibly.

Funny....there was a CD this week that reminded me of "Michael Carpenter"
this week....i almost mentioned it, but I came to the conclusion is was only
on two of the songs out of like 13 or so, so it was not consistently
relevant enough and would be mis-leading. I'm not a reviewer, but if I was
a mighty fine one like Mike Bennett and his excellent Fufkin work, I would
have written an in-depth review of the album and mentioned these songs.

That said, I really think Tom Petty has gotten lazy and is lifting Michael
Carpenter melody lines. ;-P

(Sidebar relating to Fufkin: each and every one here SHOULD BE reading
what's on Fufkin, btw...very quietly one of the best music sites for folks
that populate here and deserves more mention than it receives
here....www.fufkin.com. Now, I'm not a big Brian Wilson fan, but the
interview w/ Dominic Priore, who wrote SMiLE: The Story of Brian Wilson's
Lost Masterpiece is wonderful! and, oh yeah, there's a Michael Carpenter
interview in there, but that IS Bside the point! Casey Fundaro, editor
Fufkin, is an unknown hero for putting together one of the cooler web-based
music sites. Scroll thru these columns and see why....
http://www.fufkin.com/columns.htm )

Btw, an artist that actually buys music is a very rare thing indeed. Thanks
for your patronage, mate! ;-P

Peace,
Bruce
@ Not Lame
