I just got The Sketches as well, and while I don't really hear Maroon 5 or
Kara's Flowers, I can kinda see where you're coming from as they have a
"young", modern-rock sound. They're definitely more rock 'n roll oriented
than either of those bands, though their song "Insomnia" has dead-ringer
harmonies for those on "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates. They also tend to
favor more slower-tempo tunes than either of those bands.

And I must add that I don't hear any Michael Carpenter similarities on any
level. :-)

Definitely a solid disc.

Pop Rules!!!!!
Take Care,
David-N.P: "The Yellow Ribbon Collection" by Tony Orlando & Dawn, which is a
newly released box set of six of their albums, plus many bonus tracks. I
really think Tony Orlando & Dawn are cool, but I know selling that bill of
goods even to Audities folks is probably a longshot. However, I must point
out that none other than Nick Lowe thought enough of Orlando's hit "Halfway
To Paradise" that he did a cover of it (ok, I'm waiting for someone to say
"it was tongue in cheek, knucklehead!")
