You know, Lee...you make a *very* good point... Well, 'point of view'.
;-) Not one that occurred to me. And has merit.

This whole stab-at-a-thread may fall on dead ears (again, as this subject
has been broached before to 'no stick', too, so after this I'll not bring it
up again) and I may very well out in the wilderness here. If so, so be it.

BUT this is exactly what I am talking about below from Matthew:

I was unsubscribed for a few weeks, while on holiday, but I'm quite
surprised I haven't read anything about the Spinto Band on Audities.
I stumbled across them this week, and the album immediately lodged
itself as one of my very favourite releases this year. An excellent
mixture of powerpop sensibilities with eclectic arrangements and the
occasional disco stomper. Discussing it with a couple of friends, the
following bands' names came up when talking about the Spinto Band;
Pavement, Flaming Lips, Fountains of Wayne, Beulah, The Bravery and
The Secret Machines. They sound like none and all of those bands.

The album's called "Nice and Nicely done", and it's one of those
albums where my favourite tracks keep changing. At the moment, "Japan
is an island" (which namechecks the brilliant Cornelius) and "Late"
are the standouts. But tomorrow it'll be something else. Excellent
album.

++++++++

This is a really, really cool indie pop band. When this arrived here at
the NL office, put it on and as folks walked in and out of the picking area,
all of us commented on. And even 45 year old Marlene bought a copy for
herself, so smitten was she. The Spintos got that Strokes-y, Killers and
defiantely some Shins thing happening. The band of band that, usually,
you'd guess would appeal to the under-30 sect, but at least here, that is
not the case.

Speaking of Beulah: just picke d up their DVD, A Good Band Is Easy To Kill,
for my enjoyment this weekend (figuring Netflix would not get this one and I
was right). It documents their last tour and struggles to make a dent
after years of working it hard. BIG time under-appreciated act, imho. All
their records worth digging for in the used bins.
