I thought I'd post here about it, since I've posted
every where else!!
despite the strange lineup of bands at black cat
thurs. night...I wasn't too keen on The Greenhornes,
but I'd be willing to try again, but only if they're
playing with some other band I want to see, etc.
Brendan Benson and his band rocked and sounded great.
I think I previously have said in regards to this
show...guitar riffs like crack...wanting more and more
and more... I was anxious to hear "Spit it Out" live
and while a bit different than the recorded version,
still amazingly fun live. They played a great mix of
both "Alternative to Love" and "Lapalco" but I'm sure
you can find a setlist somewhere online if you're that
interested.
Even if you're mild about Brendan Benson, it's
definitely worth a live show. I've seen him before and
had a blast, but this show was dead on (IMO). They're
opening for White Stripes in Detroit tonight and then
off to the UK/europe.
I did however, get to talk with Dean Fertita a bit
after the show. It's been awhile since I've seen him
with The Waxwings, so that was a treat. He's hoping
to do some recording with Kevin and Jim (The Waxwings)
over the holidays, but is obviously real busy touring
with Brendan and enjoying it too. I don't know
specifics but he said that Brendan Benson might be
back on the East Coast before the end of the year, and
either a new BB or the side project, The Raconteurs
album would be out next year. I'm a bit cloudy on
that!! I sometimes get distracted when I'm talking
with handsome boys.
just got my new IKE cd, new Dipsomaniacs, and The
Spectacular Fantastic....so I've got some listening to
do!! of which I'll do right here:
