In fact October 9th is Jackson Browne and Sean Lennon's birthday as well.
Last night I saw Nada Surf at the Bowery Ballroom and a wacky band called "Say Hi to Your Mom" opened. I'm not sure if they were mentioned here before. Not exactly power pop, but lots of fun. I swear the drummer completely twirled the stick in his left hand in between each beat of the drum. And the bass player sometimes played his deep notes on the synth, so there were two keyboards going at once. The lyrics were certainly off-beat, and the melodies were riff-based.
