I am really enjoying her new album. The first run through I wasn't knocked
out by it, but I was happy that it was not as slick as her last album. Later
listens have shown me that this album is actually quite good. I think that
this is actually better than the last 3 albums.
She is not likely to create another Guyville, but at 34, why would she?
She's grown up a lot since that album, and Somebody's Miracle shows that.
The album does have a "Johnny" character and I have always liked her
"Johnny" songs.
There is something about her voice that always gets me. There is a quality
that just, I don't know, it works for me.
I remember driving to Orlando to buy copies of her "Carnivore" single the
day it came out. I went with a friend, and we each got a copy, but we
discovered that mine was different from his. Scratched deep into the inner
hub of side one of my copy were the words 'fuck me.'

As it ever was. Liz has always been an absolutely awful live
performer, even back in her indie queen days.
Liz, however, was great fun during a recent appearance on NPR's "Wait Wait
Don't Tell Me."
