While I admit that I was hip enough for my first album to be the Box
Tops' SUPER HITS, there were limits to my hipness. The first few
times I saw the cover to #1 RECORD, I kept thinking "That looks
*really* familiar..." Finally, it clicked: the LP remainder bins in
my dad's store in the late '70s had been filled with 49-cent copies of
#1 RECORD.
S, who does have photos of himself standing in front of a Big Star
supermarket in Mansfield LA, February 2001, and yes, they still use
that distended-point logo that the band stole
