Several years ago, I saw the American Analog Set (who have a pretty
good new album out on Arts and Crafts) opening for...some one of the
Elephant 6 bands, I believe. They had a guy who usually only played a
few measures per song, on anything from guitar to keyboards to a
cymbal that he played with a bow. The rest of the time, he just stood
there. No backing vocals, no percussion, nothing. I always thought
that was admirably ballsy.
