Holy Cow!
Yes, been raving about them since 1967, when I saw them at the Magic Mt
Music Fest... I've got a snap shot around here somewhere. The MGR comp
is a long time coming. The Rhino MGR hits a few years ago, and the
Varese ER comp were nice. This is all the MGR stuff that has come out
via the MGR album, American Dreamer (a Rhodes 'solo') , and the Rhino
album. You aren't going to be disappointed. As for the three solo albums
he did on Dunhill, they are still relitivly common, just found one the
other day at the thrift in Belgrade Montana... There are worth the
pennies they will set you back. Really good. Really good. There has been
talk of these getting a reissue as well. There is meant to be loads more
in the can, so you have something to look forward to.
As for the music, think Left Banke, but west coast.. Rhodes was from
Hawthorn if that helps...
get it..
