Elton John single-handedly ignited the career of Canada's Amanda Marshall.
While being interviewed on a major talk show (I think it was Letterman) he
was asked what current music he had in his CD player at the time. Elton
raved about Amanda Marshall's song "Dark Horse" from her debut album in the
mid-90's. The record had been released with mild sales as the single hadn't
taken off yet. After John's testimonial sales of the album quadrupled in a
week and eventually sold 500,000 copies.
