Whether or not West was correct, I think that his
comments reflect the point of view of a significant
percentage of the African-American community. This
may be, as Aaron noted, more of a class issue. But
personally, I don't think of Bush as any real champion
of civil rights -- not that he's a racist per se -- I
think he just supports people just like himself -- the
privileged, and usually white. Which could be
perceived in the manner West did.
