Now Playing: Andrew Denton Musical Challenge Volumes 1 and 3.
The Nonstop Pop Guy turned me on to this amazing collection of covers from
an Australian Radio Station. It was waiting for me Monday evening in the
mail. There are so many amazing performances on this disc. This radio
personality invites musicians on his program and challenges them to take
a song from outside their normal realm of style and reinterpret it in
their own style. To hear Neil Finn sing Billy Jean or Willie Nelson do
Smells Like Teen Spirit, it leaves me breathless. I got mine from
sanity.com.au. Volume 3 is a two disc set with one disc of new covers and
one disc of the best of Vols 1 and 2. Volume 2 is now out of print.
I am now anxiously waiting for a limited edition release from Pat Dinizio
of three discs of music "Especially for You" as well as his solo release
on vinyl.
There are only 8 thousand more CD's that I want to buy.
A cruise through my cd collection recently revealed the disc by Dave Mason
and Cass Elliot from the mid 70's. So many great tunes on this wonderful
collaboration. The stuff had not aged a second.
