I guess it was the summer of '83 when The Style Council's "Long Hot summer"
(should have been blaring from every radio in the states that summer, but it
wasn't) became the source of my teenaged angst and alienation-fueled
obsession.
Let's see...I will forever associate "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded
House with a girl whose heart I shattered in college, dumb ass 20 year old
that I was.
"Just Like a Woman" by Dylan resurfaces at times of romantic crises now and
then in my adulthood. I'll always remember that song in association with a
girl I used to live with 13 years ago. I was a starving musician and she
wanted to buy a new living room set. You can see the conflict pretty
clearly."When we meet again / Introduced as friends / Please don't let on
that you knew me when / I was hungry and it was your world."
"Love Stinks" is always a perennial.
Gee, we're getting all warm and fuzzy in here! Pop makes for the fodder of
good group therapy.
