My wife and I took my 10 year old daughter. Her very first reaction
to the opening theme music was "I don't like the music". However, she
loved the rest of the tracks during the film and yes, the Veruca Salt
song one is the best (IMO). I must be getting old per I had a hard
time making out the lyrics. The proof is that, my daughter was
singing one of the songs all day (the German kid). I thought of
audities when hearing a few of the songs too.
It's worth seeing and I largely hate remakes and loved Gene Wilder in
the original. I honestly feel the movies biggest strength over the
original is prior to meeting Wonka. For my money it captures the
warmth of the family more then the original. The Grandpa is just
wonderful...
My fav line from Wonka per the context: "Your weird!".
Ooops, I digress, back to the music.
