I'm a sucker for some of those UK music magazines - MOJO, Q, UNCUT - especially when they have an interesting giveaway CD attached (well, for $9 they ought to.....)
Anyway - the new issue of UNCUT has three different R.E.M. covers and three different R.E.M.-selected CDs. Each one by a different band member. The Stipe and Buck CDs didn't look too appealing to me, but the Mills disc has a nice smattering of songs by Green On Red, Big Star, The Blasters, The Replacements, Pylon, The Long Ryders, Miracle Legion, and more. The article on the band inside is also pretty good. Plus the cover of the issue I got is the college-radio-era R.E.M. (aka "my" R.E.M. - LOL).
Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone was interested in checking them out.
