Last night's Pernice Brothers show in Charlotte was excellent. Turn out
was about 100 people or so (not bad for a Tuesday night). The opening
band were a young rocking, but very melodic, outfit out of Wales called
Royal Gun. The bassist and the guitarist/singer pulled double duty in
The Pernice Brothers as well. Jonathan (g/s) played keyboards, second
guitar, harmonica, and vocals. I couldn't believe how tight the band
sounded with these new guys helping out.

Here's the set list:
There Goes the Sun
Red Desert
Snow
Water Ban
Working Girls
Saddest Quo
Monkey Suit
Amazing Glow
Crestfallen
Baby in Two
Waiting for the Universe
Shoes and Clothes
Sometimes I Remember
Dumb It Down
Weakest Shade of Blue
7:30
****
Bum Leg (Joe solo)
Prince Valium (Joe solo)
Please Mister Please (Joe/Jonathan- made famous by Olivia Newton-John)
Flaming Wreck
****
Doll in a Music Box (from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)
One Foot in the Grave

Rehoboth Beach is my adopted home town (twenty plus years now). My
friends, this stuff hardly EVER happens here. We get some good shows
(Ken Stringfellow last year, for instance, Jonathan Richman, etc.), but
this is gonna be a major event for me here if this show actually comes
off. I promise to take a few pics if it's allowed. Maybe get Joe to sign
my "living room" Seagull acoustic or something <smile>. I'll be
promoting this show from my address book, for sure. See, when this stuff
happens, it really makes me wish I lived nearer to D.C., Baltimore or
Philadelphia, though I'm grateful to be only a few hours or so from
each. Hoping Auditeers from those fine cities can make it to the Beach
for the big show! I'll be wearing my Auditeer pin (thanks Beth) and a
really huge grin.

Baby I'm Amazed,

Jeff T.
Del.

Tonight: Cliff Hillis and the Floorboard Stinkers open for Colin Hay in
Dewey Beach. Cool!
