As a result of this thread I just revisited the cd "Angel in the Dark".These
were Laura's last recordings and there is still beauty on display. It is a
mix of solo recordings and backing of some studio vets which tend to be a
bit slick for her.But her singing is wonderful. And there are several
stunning new songs, particularly her title tune and "Don't hurt Child".Also
a Bacharach cover ,"Be Aware" that is great[a song I am unfamiliar
with].There are some R&B covers to be expected. But also she covers
"Embraceable You", and Richard Rodger's "He was too good to Me".There is
even a Motown hidden track.
For true fans this is a worthwhile addition to her rich catalogue.Wonderful
liner notes by Eileen Silver-Lillywhite.It is on the Rounder label.Check it
out!
