I had the pleasure of attending some IPO shows last weekend, and I can
honestly say that I enjoyed this year more than last.

There were some great acts that weekend, including Barry Holdship, John
Ashfield, Proper Villains, Kat Parsons, that I had never heard before. I
have CDs by all of them now. Catching sets by John Hoskinson, Jeremy,
Popdudes and Lisa Mychols made it a great weekend as well. Hearing songs
that I know and love performed live is always a treat, and knowing the
performers gives it a bit more of a personal feeling.

Friday night (7/22) at Molly Malone's tuned into to lasting memories for me.
I was able to talk with Phil Solem for a while towards the end of the night.
I've been a fan of the Rembrandts since 1990, and talking one on one with a
musical hero of mine just blew me away.

That same night, I was talking with The Syrups' producer. It wasn't a long
conversation, more of an exchange of information. I found out later that
weekend that I was talking to Geoff Emerick. Wow!

David, you really do have a great thing going on with this festival, and I
was happy to attend for a second year. You'll see me around again, you can
count on that.
