I know Rolling Stone is manipulated as far as reviews go.Jim Derogatis of 
the Chicago Sun Times was fired by them for not playing by the rules,On his 
weekly 2 hour radio show "Sound Opinions"[which is an excellent show by the 
way] he often mentions how the star ratings are fixed.You are pretty much 
told how many stars to give.And if they don't like your rating they will 
change it.Jim's co-host, Greg Kot who still reviews for the magazine agrees 
with this.I think a very good example of this was the last solo album by 
Mick Jagger. I believe it got 4-5 stars.
