There's also a slightly older, 2 disc import collection called "Smash the 
System: The Singles" that's worth every penny... it's far more complete.

Saint Etienne are ideal for anyone who enjoys lush arrangements and female 
vox... I'd compare them favorably to Ivy or even the High Llamas, though 
with more dance overtones. The lushness of sound is even up there with, say, 
the Wondermints. The band are huge fans of the Beach Boys and that kind of 
sonic detail is deftly interwoven into many of their best songs. They're 
reportedly big (if not bigger) music geeks like us, and it's the kind of 
subtle and inventive way of using an influence in an entirely new way that I 
just think is so entertaining.
