I've had a few chances to hook up with Doug over the years and found him to
be a fine person as well as a very talented artist. Quite frankly, the
"music business" is a hopeless proposition for someone who elects to play
artful pop music. There is just zero money in it. I pretty much quit music
during the 90's in order to spend time with my family and work a "real" job.
Even now, music is pretty much just an expensive hobby for me.
I understand very well why someone would decide to stop beating their head
against a brick wall! But I'm sure Doug will continue to write and I bet we
hear more from him in the future.
