Hi,

I'm a relatively new member - been lurking around here for a couple of months without really saying anything. I was just wondering if anyone else has picked up the new Posies' CD "Every Kind of Light"? I've been listening to it for four or five days now, and I think that it's the best thing that the Posies have ever done. They manage to pull off the magic trick of integrating some new influences into their sound while still sounding enough like we're used to the Posies sounding not to alienate their already developed fan-base. The new album finds them picking up a slightly New Wave-synth sound while toning down the agressive Grunge guitars of "Frosting on the Beater" and "Amazing Disgrace". "Every Kind of Light" comes in somewhere between the relative softeness of "Dear 23" and the relative hardness of "Frosting on the Beater" and "Amazing Disgrace" loudness/softness-wise. The Posies do the best job of varying their songs, and showing different sides of the band, on one album,
that they've ever done. The album is still relatively new to me (listened to it roughly five times now), but I'm thinking that it's a 4 1/2 or 5 on a 5-star scale, right now. Probably the best album that I've picked up so far in 2005.

I also think that the new Fountains of Wayne and the new Pernice Brothers are really good too! It's hard to believe that "Out of State Plates" is basically a collection of stuff that didn't make the other FOW albums. And the Pernice Brothers also pull of what I described the Posies pulling off above - managing to change their sound just enough to stay interesting without really changing enough to face the threat of losing the fans that they've already picked up.

Peace,

Large Donnie
