That would be Elliot Randall.
Live in the original touring days of Steely Dan, Skunk Baxter used to do the
honors for the song, but he never achieved the scrappy blitzkrieg that was
Randall's solo. Elliot also handled the solo on another song from the same
album - "Kings" - with an equally brash bit of fretwork.

Meanwhile...I like what I've heard of The Click Five, and while they are
obviously being marketed to the same demographic that up 'til recently has
been prolonging the bad vocal group marketplace (I refuse to use the term
"boy band" as none of them are "bands" - a band plays instruments, emphasis
on PLAYS), I agree with others who think that perhaps real live bands could
replace the Backstreet types. Not such a bad thought. I kinda like the
thought of the younger set being indoctrinated with Click Five and (thanks
to Cartoon Network) Puffy Ami Yumi, as opposed to the truly repulsive and
nauseating stuff like BSB, Britney, Xtina, Jessica, etc. Now if we could
put the kibosh on "American Idol"...well, one can dream.
"I'll Take My Chances" was originally heard done by Swirl 360 on their first
album Ask Anybody a few years ago - it's a co-write between Schlesinger &
Swirl's Denny Scott.
