I suppose others have answered this for you, but I thought I'd relate my exp.
it's a snap. Painless too. I used http://www.gandi.net
they just walk you though it, you pay, and that's it. I try to do a long term reg so I don't have to think about it too often. I had no trouble getting the Career Records and Donovan's Brain domain names.
