really? did he have any other radio singles in the US
besides "cars"?  I am of necessity fairly US-centric,
which mostly means my intro to the "underground"
happened by way of the UK new wave bands.  They made
me significantly cooler than I would have been had I
stayed listening exclusively to Whitney Houston.

eek!  a fate narrowly avoided, and beyond
contemplation!

I'm comfortable with the idea that I just missed these
people's other greatest, perhaps earlier hits - one
man's one-hitter is surely another man's prized
used-bin find, as has been conclusively proved on this
site numerous times.
