I have a small list of LPs that I would like to see reissued on CD.
To that list, I just added the 1981 "Daydreamin at Night" LP by the
Lookalikes. I've rarely seen people talk about this LP, so I thought
I would mention it.

The Lookalikes played a style of music that equally combined rock,
power pop, and new wave. But unlike other bands, these guys
actually got it right (IMHO). A good reference point might be the
"Approved by the Motors" LP. However, whereas the Motors only added
new wave influences to some of their songs, the Lookalikes totally
embraced it throughout their whole album. Here are some samples
from their songs:

Except for a couple of songs at the end of side 1, which sound like
they were written for the purpose of trying to be hit songs, the rest
of the album is inventive and well produced, with lots of interesting
lyrics, cool keyboard and percussion sounds, and fun production.
Listen to the samples with headphones, in order to really appreciate
some of the stuff going on in those songs. I wonder if anyone else
likes this LP as much as I do. In any event, I haven't found any
sign that this LP was reissued on CD, so I made a nice CDR of it. If
you have any interest in getting a copy of it, contact me offline,
and I'll send you one for the cost of the CDR and shipping.

Mark
