  No offense taken...
  I am, (as most of you know), a HUGE Eagles fan...but Hotel California was 
so "L.A Deeply Shallow", pretensious, and drawn out, I couldn't stand it.
  ...that is, until I heard/saw, the version on the "Hell Freezes Over" DVD 
in DTS sound.
  It is heartachingly beautiful in that context, both in performance, and 
meaning. The wrinkles, experience, and heartache, missing from the original 
recording was there in it's "wasted lives", full blown, "lived through" 
reality.
  It changed my perception of the song as only time can.
  Wonderful music from these guys, who, like James Taylor, age gracefully 
musically, proof that the life lived provides the best songs, the most 
heartfelt emotions, and the musical legacy inherent in greatness. These are 
not pretenders...they ARE the Southern California experience as much as The 
Beach Boys ever were...
