That would actually be a quote from the bible (that is, "Get behind me
Satan"; the rest of the the Donkey Jaw lyric is original, if banal, 70s
feel-good tree-huggery). It's a fairly common turn of phrase for people
fighting temptation (frequently spoken with tongue firmly in cheek, in my
experience).
The phrase "Get thee behind me, Satan" is found in Matthew 16:23, to be precise.
It's also quoted in the Utopia song, "Rock Love", off of their 1980 album *Adventures In Utopia*.
