I can't count the numbers of hours I've sat in NYC cabs and listened to either WCBS or 1010 WINS. Just about every cabbie would listen to those two.
And very often WCBS would preface any Beatles tune they'd play with one of those old promos from 1964 or 65 ("This is George from the Beatles, and you're listening to WCBS").
More radio homogenization- a sad day indeed.
