In Boston it's "Mike" FM -- replacing a prior R&B format which started out
(1998-99 or so) electic but became all-"new" and mostly "bleah" over time --
which is like having a pot luck button on your radio. Yesterday morning I heard
Badfinger's "Come and Get It" followed by Gin Blossoms' "Follow You Down,"
followed by something hip-hoppy which immediately lost my interest. (Sorry.
Not reflexively hostile. Just don't get it and I like my spoken word not so
in-my-face. By goofy contrast, I can listen to dub reggae pretty endlessly.
Maybe just that smidge of propulsive melodicism is required.)
If one spare the button I can see how it can be good for a giggle.
