the jack format started in canada and is all over the place here...
in its pure form (it has since been ripped off and diluted), it
starts off really cool as lost 80s new wave hits suddenly appear...
then slowly, metal and classic rock bits creep in ... the vancouver one
is strong cause they stole the #1 morning team from a rival station... and
it's cool to hear the occasional oddity on there but there is so much amazing
80s music (that seems to be the jack bob charlie library) that is not played...
but honestly... i want to hear cool NEW music by NEW bands....
radio, especially here in canada, has lost the plot.

the CBC (our NPR) has a great Saturday night block where they crank on all
the new stuff and in-studio exclusive sessions, etc... while the French network
digs deeper into cooler sounds (Quebec is where it's at for new music
of any kind)...

the moment has never been brighter for college radio, podcast, web, etc...

as soon as those low power licenses come in - look out...
