Yeah, nothing too profound, but I've been watching the newly released First
Season Partridge Family DVD lately and it seemed timely with the thread.
snip:

Hi David,
I've been re-watching these with my daughter. It's been great fun.
Nothing I say below is even close to profound!

Surprises...
I've only seen a 8 or so episodes thus far and the number of "famous" guest
stars are kind of amazing. I'm certain several of these were not that well
know at the time.

Richard Prior, Lou Gossett Jr, Farah Fawsett (very brief moment), Mark
Hamill (Laurie's supportive boyfriend during the "braces crisis", Ray
Bolger, Harry Morgan, Jaclyn Smith, Richard Mulligan ("Soap" TV star. My
favorite guess star so far. He's plays a doctor and he's sporting a Rollie
Finger's like, handlebar mustache. Laurie thinks mom should date him and
with googely eyes, she calls him "Dr. Groooovy").

(I know there are many more that appeared beyond this season, such as Bobby
Sherman)

How about "bum film edits"? During one of the songs they have poor little
Tracey banging her tambourine and singing the "Ahhhhhh" background vocals.
Only, problem is there are no vocals at that moment. This happens twice
during the same song!

I watch this and marvel at how times have changed. Tracey just plain
couldn't act. She looks like a deer lost in the head lights in most of her
scenes. The boy who played Chris, wasn't much better. But, I kind of like
it that way. What is quaint is that it obviously wasn't so important at the
time. I've always wondered how they picked the little kids. Maybe "cute" was
all they cared about? Or were these just kids they knew, like say, the
camera man's son? Now I think TV would demand much more out of their cute
little stars.

Oh, another thing. I wish I recalled the song, but in one of the episodes
they have Keith lip syncing to someone else's vocals! What was up with
that? I wonder who thought he couldn't pull it off or what the reason was
behind this. I would assume that David wasn't to happy with this request.

Well, I could babble on but I'll spare you all. :)

Steve D.
